Leo-Fest ‘10 – Tech fest – Focus on Engineers for Societal Transformation – March

It gives us immense pleasure to announce that the Leo Club of SPIC Nagar is conducting Leo-FEST during March 2010. Leo Club of SPIC Nagar is a non-profit, voluntary service organization affiliated to the Lions Club International and is comprised of Engineers employed with Southern Petrochemical Industries Corporation Limited (SPIC Ltd.). To fulfill our Corporate-Social responsibility we are constantly in search of ideas that effect societal-transformation. As part of this search we are conducting a technical symposium where young Engineers can share their ideas for incorporating latest technologies, which will result in the betterment of the society.
Leo-FEST provides an opportunity for students of Engineering colleges to demonstrate their technical might and share their knowledge in an arena of Engineers.
There are attractive prizes worth Rs. 50,000 to be won and a rare opportunity for budding engineers to go on an Educational visit into the Tuticorin Port and SPIC Fertilizer complex, through a tour arranged by our Leo Club.

About the College

K.L.N. COLLEGE OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY is the first engineering college on Information Technology in Madurai, started in 2001 by the munificence of philanthropists and well-wishers in the Sourashtra community, which is a linguistic minority in Tamil Nadu. The college, a co-educational one, is sponsored by K.L.N. Sourashtra College of Engineering Council, consisting of eminent industrialists and academicians led by the pioneer Amarar Thiru K.L.N. Krishnan. It is approved by the A.I.C.T.E., New Delhi and is affiliated to Anna University , Tiruchirappalli. The college offers  five Under Graduate Programmes in Engineering and Technology and  one Post Graduate Programme in Computer Applications.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering has well qualified and experienced Faculty members with both Teaching and Research Experience. Faculty members are continuously upgrading their knowledge by the way of presenting papers in conferences, attending workshops, seminars, Faculty development programs etc., to epitomize the cutting edge technology prevailing in the field of Electronics and Communication Engineering. For mutual mobilization of Technological ideas, Interaction with Industry is carried out as a curriculum requirement and visits by eminent Persons from the Industries and Academic Institutions are encouraged. Students do projects in industry to get real time Industrial Exposure.

The TechWizz-2K10, National Level Technical Symposium scheduled to be held on 26th and 27th February 2010, aims at spearheading the scattered talent and intelligence towards consolidation of on-going research and development in the field of Engineering and Technology.

Good News To all final year engineering students

All India Engineering Project Innovation Contest (AIEPIC, pronounced as eye-pic) aims to identify, promote and reward outstanding engineering talent across India. The contest is open to all final year undergraduate engineering students and MCA students. This contest is expected to bring together more than six lakh students from 3000+ colleges across India to showcase their projects. This is the only event of its kind being organized for the first time in India. The contest provides a level-playing field for every budding engineer to display his/her technical brilliance. 

If you are an eligible candidate for the contest, register yourself, invite your team members, and post a summary of the project you intend to execute. You need to constantly update the progress of your project every 15 days. You can also vote/ comment on projects of other students and network with industry experts for guidance. 

Through a rigorous and challenging selection process, a distinguished panel of judges comprising of scientists and industry leaders will select 500 finalists (equally from each branch) from a nationwide pool of thousands, to attend the final round in Bangalore during April 2010. There will also be several awards and incentives for the finalists and their colleges. For details check the Awards page.
