C-DAC Chennai is organizing a two day workshop on Ubiquitous Computing at Chennai, India, on 29 & 30th January 2010.Target Audiences are members from Research & Development organizations, related industries and academic institutions.Department of Information Technology(DIT),MCIT, GOI, has launched a National Initiative on Ubiquitous Computing Research to create a Nation wide R&D base in the multidisciplinary areas of ubicomp; sensor networks, middleware, context aware computing, sensor network applications in agriculture, healthcare, Smart Home etc.
Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), an R & D institution under DIT is the main implementing agency of the research programme alongwith academic institutions such as IITs and IISc.

National Ubiquitous Computing Research Centre

C-DAC Centres at Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad are working in various Ubiquitous Computing technologies towards establishing National Ubiquitous Computing Research Centre.

Ubiquitous Computing Initiative
Ubiquitous Computing is often considered as third era of computing after desktop computing and mobile computing in the recent past. Ubiquitous Computing is the trend towards increasingly Ubiquitous (another name for anytime, anywhere) connected computing devices in the environment, a trend being brought about by a convergence of advanced electronics and particularly, wireless technologies and the Internet. This is achieved by the drop in cost of hardware equipments, the miniaturization of the same, development of sensors, proliferation of low power devices, web services, semantic web and ideas such as wearable computing. Ubiquitous computing is thus integration of Distributed Systems, Mobile Networking, and Embedded Smart devices and much more. Some of the applications of Ubiquitous computing, which basically drive research in this area, are Healthcare, Business, Emergency response, Farmland & other agricultural activities, Irrigation, service provisioning, information management, and for enhanced comfort in day to day life.

Welcome to the Computer Vision Conferences and Special Issues deadlines summary page. Events are listed in order of deadline, starting roughly a few days ago (or more accurately a few days before the last update) going to about 3 months into the future. Therefore if it is too late for paper submission, or too early to worry about it, the deadline is not listed. Not all organizers notify me of changes, so some deadline updates fail to make this list.
This initial example is for CVPR, but you can use the browse link (at the bottom) to add others, or use the links in the list here for a meeting with an upcoming deadline. This allows you to be in a group for the conference without needing creating a group. The page includes 1 week deadlines and recent updates (e.g. Extensions, also included in the Profile box). If you have a conference interest indicated, you will receive a Facebook notification of the approaching deadline and notifications of any updates to the meeting information.

NATIONAL SEMINAR ON ACHIEVING FOOD SECURITY IN TIMES OF CRISIS
AL PROCESSO'10

This information is brought to you by www.studentyuva.co.cc
Need of Food Preservation & Value Education
The food preservation and processing industry has now become more of a necessity than being a luxuary. It has an important role in the conservation and better utilisation of food products. In order to utilize the surplus during the season ,it is necessary to employ modern methods to extend the storage life for better distribution through processing and preservation for utilisation in the off season also to cater to the needs of the small scale and large scale sectors.
According to FAO with an estimated increase of 105 million hungry people in 2009, ther are now 1.02 billion malnourished people in the world , meaning that almost one sixth of all humanity is suffering from hunger. Both public and private investments are needed, more specifically through targeted public investment to encourage and facilitate private investment, especially by farmers themselves to overcome this global crisis. We have the technology know how to do something about alleviating the unger. So the latest non thermal technologies, value addition techniques and shelf life enhancement will reduce the food losses. Reducing the percentage of food loss means increasing the availability of te food produced.
Under this scenario, the Department of Food Processing & Engineering is organizing a National Seminar with the theme "Achieving Food Security in Times of Crisis"

Event name:literati
Event type:Technical event
Fest date:28th-31 st jan
Details: LITERATI 2010 – the National Level Technical Extravaganza at NIT Kurukshetra tries to answer this problem with a bunch of fresh initiatives, entirely crafted from a social point of view. We see ourselves not only as a prominent technical institution in the country but also as an institution which the society by and large, looks up to, as a centre of excellence in its domain, and we long to live up to this image.

LITERATI 2010, a 3 day extravaganza, which is one of the biggest of its kind in North India, will feature a plethora of stimulating events, which would entertain maverick minds at work and at leisure. We also present a series of guest lectures by eminent personalities in the technical spectrum, making LITERATI 2010 a wholesome place for a learning, tech-savvy and fun loving audience.

Apart from fostering healthy competitive spirit, we would not forget our social responsibility as literate, young individuals. The initiatives taken during LITERATI 2010 would try to put into effect this thought -- The NITK Director’s Trophy, a rolling trophy for the schools in and around Haryana, The Red Bike Concept, a simple but efficient attempt at reducing the pollution levels in the campus, and the Energy Conservation Competition among the hostels are the initiatives that could make a difference, however small, in our perspectives on what we can do, and not on what we cannot. Also worth looking forward to are the online events, exhibitions, the informals, and a lot more on-the-spot stuff.

LITERATI 2010 takes you on a ride full of new explorations, new applications of technology and most of all, new ideas.
