Details: Greetings and welcome to the homepage of Alfaaz 2010, IIT Guwahati's annual Literary festival! In its second edition, Alfaaz will be held on 5th-7th February, 2010.
Since the vision that was Alfaaz materialized in 2008, it has been a celebration of the several multiplicities of literature. Alfaaz is a tribute to the eloquent word and an exhibition of art penned down; a collection of motley events, in praise as much of comic wit and biting repartee, as of stirring sobriety evoking spellbound silence; an excuse to enrich the mundane and commonplace in life and let it metamorphose untethered into a flight of fantasy.
Add in the cut-throat competition that draws out the best in everyone and the seeds are sown for making tangible the highest forms of intellect and creativity, inherent in some of the finest minds of the nation. Events at Alfaaz '10 promise you just that with a myriad of speaking and writing events that let imagination flow freely.
Also part of Alfaaz 2010 will be the IIT Guwahati Model United Nations, a simulation of various United Nations councils. The MUN shall witness delegates from all over the nation engaging in intense debate over several pressing issues in the contemporary world, with an aim to arrive at plausible solutions for the same. The MUN promises to be a lively and stimulating affair, with around 100 delegates simulating 3 UN councils.
Apart from showcasing literary capacities of the highest quality, Alfaaz also aims at providing avenues for the all and sundry to imbibe such skills and garner knowledge on a variety of topics relevant in the day and age. To this end, Alfaaz includes a host of Workshops and Talks by eminent personalities, certain to make your make your stay on campus a memorable and enriching experience.
We invite all literary fanatics out there - newbies and pros, writers and critics, rhetoricians and debaters, the conventional and the eccentric, and everyone else with a thirst for knowledge or a yearning for literary art. We promise you three days of unhindered fun and an atmosphere conducive to literary thinking, in which we shall pit the very best against each other. We ask you to let loose your inner Milton, to let fly your imagination and let go your inhibitions. Astound us.
