BITS Pilani has always taken pride in setting standards of excellence in whatever fields it has stepped into. Apogee, the annual technical fest of BITS, is no exception. For 27 years, the tech-fest has continually kept up a tradition of innovation while at the same time honoring the institute’s traditions. So, while the latest edition of the fest looks ahead at a greaterinternational participation with the ISO 9001:2009 certification, it will uphold its unique feature to host a plethora of events promoting the pure sciences, something BITS has always given special importance to. This time, as usual, its going to be bigger and better than ever before.
Events | Apogee’10
There are more than 50 events in 6 categories covering a huge range of topics to suit the tastes of the craziest of the technophiliacs. These events go on day and night for 5-days to give you the best doze of technical extravaganza. Among the major crowd pullers are Junkyard Wars, ACM-ICPC, Siddhi, FTGP, Code Storm and many more.
Also in the pipeline are several Online Events to provoke interest and encourage participation from all over the world during the days before the fest. These online events comprise a wide variety of contests, ranging from stock market simulation to photography, all of them having a common theme of technology running through them.
Projects, Papers, Workshops | Apogee’10
Projects and Paper Presentations have been part of Apogee since its inception. With over 250 projects in more than 15 categories judged last year, BITS promises a platform like no other. Paper presentations on wide ranging industrial applications and scientific processes are a major attraction for participants of Apogee. These papers cover topics from pure sciences and humanities to areas of engineering.

In addition to projects and paper presentations, Apogee features a host of Workshops and Invited Lectures on a wide range of topics. Workshops, aided by lecture series, hands-on lab work and other activities, have always proved to a fun learning experience for all participants. In the past, we have had workshops conducted by tech majors and on varied topics ranging from forensics to embedded systems. JIMMY WALES and DILEEP CHABARIA have been among the numerous speakers who have captivated the minds and souls of the multitude of students gathered here for the fest with their inspirational lectures. So look out for the eminent personalities coming to BITS-PILANI this Apogee because sometimes we cannot afford to miss out on a life-time experience.
So, this March, prepare for an eclectic mix of the old and the new, of tradition and innovation.
